Are we one of those?
Filipinos have a disposition of hating cliques. We watch our brothers and sisters and there is some kind of connection. We are potential family friends. But we don't embrace it. We pick out their flaws and observe all the things that we don't want to be. The connection turns into a fear of becoming a carbon copy of what we see. The logic dwindles down to, "They're Filipino and I might become that if I don't watch it." The Black-washed Filipinos are afraid of being White-washed, and the White-washed Filipinos are afraid of becoming darker than they already are. We define what's real/who's real and what's fake. The cliques are formed, the walls are built high, the doors are closed, and the minds are closed. The only way in is through the sewers and you have to get on your knees for that. And I walk through this city of skyscrapers. "This is ridiculous." I say to myself. I find a couple of pedestrians who are roaming as I search these empty streets. We think the same, we laugh the same, we enjoy each other, and we hate cliques. Options being limited, we have no choice but to form a clique. Ironic how we become the thing we hate. But we can't hate what we've become because it's different this time. The walls are not so high, more reminiscent of a Mom-and-Pops shop. The conversations are real and the doors are always open. It's not about being exclusive. Everyone is welcome. So give us a call. You know the numbers and don't be afraid to call late. We're most likely up. But don't get too awkward about the slang. We talk a lot differently than the people in the skyscrapers.

it sucks b/c either party can make an effort to call & chill but neither one does.
i personally feel, though evidently not alone in that feeling, that your disdain for cliques have made you seem "too fresh"--how can we easily approach your group? maybe individually but together w/the crew, ur not the same. how easy is it for me, let's say, to call when you're "clique" is all together? why would i want to disturb that.
...i don't understand why you guys became the ones to impress, the ones who survey/critique from afar--Remember our talk long ago a/b those ppl...now i feel that ppl aren't 'real' enough or don't have what it takes to make it to YOUR team--or at least, not w/o more effort than necessary.
you're the only who has to know who this is & i know you do so this is enough,
and if i ever felt comfortable talking to them, or even ever existed to the rest of them, then i probably would have already made the cut.
sorry.i miss you.maybe we'll talk again.
it's been a while since ive seen your blog
but this one was called to my attention.
and there ya go---
We should talk
well put, mr casanova. i couldn't've put it better myself. droppin' my two cents, i think although our walls are much lower, there are still walls; barriers to our friendship. the minds and doors are relentlessly open, yet people find that those walls are still too high. personally, i think if you can't get over those walls, and feel the need to give up, you probably weren't meant to get over our walls in the first place.
and to put my own personal thoughts to your slave talk, i avoided the filipino community a

and to put my own personal thoughts to your slave talk, i avoided the filipino community and found my circle in a fraternity. and to look past the "SUMMER 2005!!!" and "Surfs Up Braaaa!" i found them to be more real than my own people. YET, i am still drawn and closer to the asian delegation within the frat. i had to earn thier frienship through a formal invatation to the frat. and theyre testing me through the pledge process. and if people find this too much to be someone's friend, it's a wonder why they're going through so much drama with shady people they let into thier circle of friends.
