Family Values

Congratulations America,

we just hit the 300 million mark!

And what better way to celebrate than to read this blog
--------------------------------------------
There are a couple of shows I want to talk about.
The first one is....

Brotherhood

Hailed as good as The Sopranos, Brotherhood is about two brothers who use their respective realms, one as a politician and the other as an underground crime gangster, to defend their Rhode Island neighborhood, also known as The Hill. And the two brothers find themselves constantly getting in each other's way trying to become The Hill's guardian angel. The show is filled with complex characters in a world of family, loyalty, favors, and inner demons. That's why this show is good. How far would you go for family?

But this has gotta be the character that makes the show...

He plays the gangster of the show, but his character gives you too many reasons to like him.
1. He's a killer, but he only kills the people he has to.
2. He's a drug dealer, using the neighborhood kids to run his operation.
3. He cares about family; and he makes sure his family doesn't get on drugs.
4. The only thing he drinks is water.
5. Despite trying to be The Hill's underworld boss, he genuinely cares about The Hill.
He's a bad man, he knows it, but that what makes him a good person, and a good character.
"I'm a criminal. It's not pretty...but it's what I do."

The next show on the list is...

Weeds

In the small California suburban town of Agrestic, Nancy Botwin, recently widowed middle-aged mother, becomes a pot dealer to maintain her standard of living. The show is a comedy and it's not as dumb as it sounds at first. The characters and the story actually have a lot of depth and creativity. And it's not just about a mom dealing drugs. It's about a mom building her weed empire against all the odds. Did I mention the show is hilarious?

Can you believe she almost did Desparate Housewives?
She's a lot better as a powerful drug dealer than a desparate housewife.

And this is why this show is good...

In conclusion, complex characters with stories that challenge the conventions of right and wrong usually make for good television.

So dealing drugs to maintain a high standard of living isn't considered being a desperate housewife...?!

i'd like to take this moment to mention other famous bananas, in honor of uncle andy's banana lesson:

- golden bananas. responsible for the deaths of many kremlings

- the banana in City of God, which was responsible for a brutal murder
